In honour of their guru Yogacharya BKS Iyengar’s Centenary in 2018, the Bath Iyengar Yoga Centre will host a special series of ten yoga workshops to spread his teachings. The workshops will also be used to raise money for our appeal.
Bellur Krishnamachar Sundararaja Iyengar, better known as B.K.S. Iyengar, was the founder of the style of yoga known as “Iyengar Yoga” and was considered one of the foremost yoga teachers. Iyengar Yoga is now practiced in 85 countries around the world. He created a unique synthesis of classical yoga and western medical science by refining the yoga practice through correct anatomical positioning, physiological functioning, proper sequencing and timing in the practice of asanas and pranayama. He also developed the therapeutic applications of yoga, making it accessible to all.
The workshops range from Introduction to yoga, yoga for men, Yoga for over 60s, yoga for sleep problems, Introduction to Iyengar method, yoga for office workers, yoga philosophy, restorative yoga. The first workshop takes place on Saturday 12th May, 11:00am- 12:00 with a minimum £5 donation to take part.
