On the occasion of its 22nd birthday, September 1st 2018, the Sambhavna Trust held a press conference with speakers describing its work and many achievements having grown from a 12 person outfit, in a modest 1200 sq. ft building, into its current purpose-designed facility spread across two acres and employing a team of 59 staff.
After the press conference an interactive session was held between invited guest Justice (Retd.) V. K. Agarwal and community health volunteers, staff of Sambhavna and survivors of the disaster. Chair of the Supreme Court appointed empowered monitoring committee of medical care for Bhopal Gas victims, Justice Agarwal entertained the survivors’ grievances and assured them of their continuing entitlement to free medical treatment. Later, Community Health Volunteers of Sambhavna shared their experiences of working in the gas affected communities with him.
Later in the day, a programme of celebratory performances was held in a nearby marriage hall. Sambhavna patients old and new, along with member of its staff, enjoyed a lively programme of song and dance performances from children of Oriya Basti and other gas and water affected communities.
