September 1st marks 22 years since the Sambhavna trust was founded and not only has the clinic received numerous awards for its ground-breaking treatments and research into the effects of the Bhopal Disaster, it has been described as an exemplar of its type:

Situated on a two-acre piece of land just a few hundred metres from the Union Carbide Plant, Sambhavna serves not only as a first-class clinic administering free healthcare but acts as a research and documentation facility for the study of industrial disasters in Bhopal and elsewhere. The proximity of the clinic to the site of disaster is no coincidence and stands as a defiant testimony to positive development in the area. The location of the thoughtfully designed clinic, in one of the poorest and worst affected areas of Bhopal, demonstrates the kind of lasting change that a facility of this nature can bring about.
