Joined by the international community, hundreds of thousands of landmarks, buildings, homes and communities around the world, light blue in recognition of people living with autism. Autism-friendly events and educational activities take place all month to increase understanding and acceptance and foster worldwide support.
On the twelfth annual World Autism Awareness Day, April 2, 2019 special children of the Chingari Trust celebrated World Autism Day with the theme of “Together We Can”.
The excited children enjoyed various games and activities with dancing, ‘Jalebi’ jump, lemon racing, and some blue-themed painting. According to the theme of the programme “Together we can” the Chingari Trust hopes to convey the message that with our combined efforts we can help children with Autism spectrum disorder integrate with the normal stream.
Presently, 19 children with Autism Spectrum disorder regularly attend Chingari Rehabilitation Centre and receive Physiotherapy, Occupational therapy, Speech therapy, Special education etc. Various positive changes have been seen in the lives of these children after receiving the therapies, special education and care provided for them.
Chingari Trust has been working for the last 12 years on the rehabilitation of congenitally disabled children born to families affected by the Bhopal Gas Tragedy and subsequent water contamination crisis. Currently, 962 children are registered with the Chingari Trust and of them 303 children come to Chingari regularly and receive Physiotherapy, Occupational therapy, Speech therapy, Special education, a Midday meal. They are provided with all of this along with a Pick-up and drop-off facility entirely free of charge.
