The world of running may have recently been shocked and delighted by Denis Kimeto’s recent world record Marathon time in Berlin, but more imporantly for the BMA a huge congratulations has to be made to Mat Homewood and Dom Osman-Allu who, on Sunday the 28th September 2014, ran the Robin Hood Marathon in Nottingham to raise funds for the Bhopal Medical Appeal.
Both Mat and Dom, members of the Lewes Athletic Club, have been keen runners for the BMA over the years. Mat has notched up four Brighton Marathons already and both him and Dom plan to run in the 2015 Brighton Marathon on the 15th April.
Completing the Robin Hood runs holds special significance for Mat who, in February of this year, half way into training for his 5th consecutive Brighton Marathon, was falsely diagnosed with Brugada Syndrome (Sudden Death Syndrome) and was told he could never run again. 2 months later he was given the all clear and him and Dom set out to run the in Nottingham.
Mat and Dom have done a great job with their fundraising, and reached their target before the day of the race. Their JustGiving page is still open and if you would like to donate please click here. It’s never too late to donate!
From everyone at the BMA, we’d like to send a huge congratulations to both runners and a big thank you to them for choosing to support the Bhopal Medical Appeal. We wish them luck in their future challenges!
