On the eve of the 32nd anniversary of the Bhopal Disaster members of Bhopal Gas Peedit Nirashrit Pensionbhogi Sangharsh Morcha (BGPNPSM) protest in the blazing midday sunshine at Neelam Park in Bhopal.
They bemoan the lack of care and support they receive as pensioners, whilst still suffering ill-health as a result of the disaster, along with the pitiful levels of compensation they have received. They’re also pointing out that the Indian Government’s ‘curative petition’ which aims to address the inadequacies of that settlement is itself using too small a number to reflect the real deaths and injuries tally.
