Bhopal Survivors pensioners’ rights group protested in the blazing sun on the morning of the 2nd of December 2014 in Bhopal.
The colourful group, from the Bhopal Gas Peedit Nirashrit Pension Bhogi Sangharsh Morcha (BGPNPBSM for short!) sat for several hours, in the heat of a peculiarly hot December morning, protesting at their lack of justice and calling on Dow Chemical to, finally, be held to account by the Indian Government.
Many of the women held a photo of the husbands they lost thanks to Union Carbide and its poisons.
The eldest of the group, at 90 years, vows to fight ’til her last breath and it is heart-breaking to think she may never see the justice she so richly deserves.
Also on the 2nd of December 2014 Bhopal Survivors groups fighting for pensioners’ rights took to the streets to protest and burn a Dow Chemical effigy in Bhopal.
