Suggested Wording for Legacy Gifts

Please see below some suggestions for wording should you wish to include a legacy gift to Bhopal Medical Appeal in your Will, which we hope you find useful:

Specific Legacy: a gift of an object such as piece of jewellery or art, or property.
“I give free of all tax (description of land, property or goods) to Bhopal Medical Appeal, Unit 2, The Foundry, 8/9 St George’s Mews, Brighton, BN1 4EU registered charity number 1117526 with the full power to realise such assets and to apply the proceeds for its general charitable purposes, and I further direct that receipt of the Finance Officer or other proper Officer shall be a full and sufficient discharge.”

For a Residuary Legacy: a gift of the whole or a percentage of what is left of your estate after all other bequests and expenses have been paid for.
‘I give all (or a….% share of) the residue of my Estate to Bhopal Medical Appeal, Unit 2, The Foundry, 8/9 St George’s Mews, Brighton, BN1 4EU registered charity number 1117526 to be used for its general charitable purposes and I declare that the receipt of their Finance Officer or other proper officer shall be a full and sufficient discharge.’

For a Pecuniary Legacy: a gift of a fixed amount of money.
‘I give the sum of £ (words & figures) to Bhopal Medical Appeal, Unit 2, The Foundry, 8/9 St George’s Mews, Brighton, BN1 4EU registered charity number 1117526 to be used for its general charitable purposes and I declare that the receipt of their Finance Officer or other proper officer shall be a full and sufficient discharge.’
