Barbara Dinham

Co Founder of the Bhopal Medical Appeal

"It was important to begin a health fund to provide appropriate response for the Bhopal survivors...the clinic really filled a major gap in providing the help that people needed."

The Sambhavna Clinic stands in about one acre of medicinal herb garden in the heart of the gas-affected area of Bhopal, half a kilometre from the disused Union Carbide factory. The modern clinic was purpose-designed and built.

One of the major functions of the Chingari Trust is the work committed towards supporting the families of the many children in Bhopal born today with various psychological and physical disabilities.

Our first Bhopal Medical Appeal appeared in The Guardian and The Observer on the 10th anniversary of the disaster in December 1994, producing a massively generous response.

If you would like to learn more about the clinics or our fundraising events or if you have any questions about our work, please contact us and we shall be pleased to help.

"As an example of a holistic, environmentally-sound, community-focused and patient-centred approach to healthcare, the Sambhavna Clinic is way ahead of anything I have ever visited or worked in, anywhere in the world."
